Beckley Open Afternoon 2010

Beckley holds an "Open Afternoon" every two years, to raise funds to help towards the running costs and upkeep of the 14th Century Grade 1 listed church. It is always a happy village occasion, and this year was no exception. The weather was perfect, and we had about 325 visitors. There were 14 gardens on view, all beautiful in different ways, and an impressive exhibition of works by local artists in the church. We did a roaring trade in teas right from the beginning, and all the stalls were busy - plants, cakes, books and ice creams were snapped up quickly and the tombola was very popular.

Open afternoons have been a tradition here for very many years now, and people still enjoy coming to see the picturesque village, the gardens, the church and the splendid views over Otmoor. Click below to see a slide show from the day and see if your garden is there!. Photos courtesy of Rod Hoyle.
