The Abingdon Arms In the summer the garden terrace seats 50 people and 100 plus on the lawns below. In the eleven cooler months! following summer the pub has dining for 70. Open log fires bark at youand the fabulous bar sucks you in. Excellent cask beers with gallons of atmosphere, seasonal food such as game, fresh fish, salads, pastas and Scottish beef are in abundance. Tuesday night is Thai Curry Night and Wednesdays are stek nights. breakfasts are served on Saturday mornings. The Abingdon Arms hosts Jazz nights regularly so keep an eye out for the next Event. Some history: The Abingdon Arms (circa1700) is located in the pretty village of Beckley, five minutes off the A40 and 10 minutes north of Oxford City. The Romans left behind a wonderful road and milestone, just the site of the villa remains. Henry VIII hunted here for many years. It is recorded in 1413 that many Oxford scholars were charged with trespass on the Otmoor. Richard of Cornwall built a palace just behind the Abingdon Arms, only stones remain.
