Beckley Village Hall New Build - next steps meeting

As Beckley approaches the final stages of its new hall development process, and awaits the outcome of its grant-funding applications, the Parish Council and Village Hall Management Committee are keen to take any additional input regarding village requirements of the building itself. At a later date, post successful grant funding, we hope to be planning how we might fit out the hall to meet the needs of future generations of users.

There will be a public meeting on Thursday 23 May 7pm to share the most recent information with the village and, in the interests of time, we hope to have answered many questions that a villager may wish to ask in the attached FAQs (note that the attched FAQs were updated on 10th May 2013).

News from the Oxfordshire Woodfuel Programme

There are places left on two woodfuel visits:

Sat 1 June 10 am – 4 pm A unique opportunity to see MOD Bicester Garrison's woodland, try wild rabbit, and take home as much firewood as you can fit in your car. £30. Contact Gary Beckett at gbeckett_13@btopenworld.com, 07810 756110 .

Sat 8 June 9:40 am – 3:40pm Thrupp Wood near Kidlington, Sustainable Kirtlington's woodfuel production, and Manor House Stoves. Starts/ends at Water Eaton P&R. £25. Contact Fiona.Danks@oxonrcc.org.uk , 01865 883488.

The woodfuel programme has received several offers of unseasoned logs at a good price. It is mostly willow and would require cutting into lengths and storing under cover for at least one summer. Contact manager@oxonwoodfuel.org.uk.

If you have a woodland that could use some help, or are happy to work in a woodland in return for logs, please see www.oxonwoodfuel.org.uk/logs-for-labour.

Calendar of Events

We have added a "Calendar of Events" to the site. This presents the upcoming events in a calendar style. Events are colour coded:

  • village events in blue
  • local (non-village) events in green
  • Oxford events in purple
  • other events in brown

We hope you will find this useful.
